Thank you for taking the time to visit the University of Mississippi’s National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) website. We extend to you our warmest welcome. NPHC represents nine nationally recognized historically Black fraternities and sororities known as the Divine 9. Each and every one of our organizations that make up the Divine 9 have a meaningful purpose and contribute to bettering the space around them. We all share principles based on Scholarship, Service, Brotherhood/Sisterhood or work towards those principles. Our university’s council currently hosts 6 of the 9 organizations.
NPHC’s mission is to promote unity and unanimity of thought and action as far as possible in the conduct of Greek letter collegiate fraternities and sororities and to work together bas on problems of mutual interest to its member organizations.
This year, I have charged our campus’ council to operate under the following the expectation: As chapters of our national organizations located here at the University of Mississippi, it is our obligation to represent the vast works and impact of our organizations on the campus and within the Oxford community (and even beyond this city when possible). This is a challenge when one considers the diligence that pursuing a degree alone requires, and then adding weight to the load of this task by upholding the principles that have sustained the greatness of this council and have reached far beyond us. However, we became members with the understanding that this is our charge.
In addition, some of the expectations our executive board agree upon include accountability and accurate representation.
We encourage you to join us throughout the various events we sponsor each semester. As a council, we coordinate a “Meet the Greeks” week the second week of each semester, consisting of inclusive and informational events that serve as an opportunity for us to reach out to everyone on campus. In addition, each NPHC member organization holds a week of events in both the spring and fall semesters, where you can learn more about each fraternity or sorority. There is also information here on the website and we hope it serves as a beneficial resource. However, please do not hesitate to contact us
